Transportal Network (www.transportalnetwork.com), the Atlanta-based Internet company, has announced the names of six more fleets joining the Transportal network:

* May Trucking Company, a 600-unit truckload carrier based in Salem, Ore.
* J.H. Rose Truck Line, a 180-tractor company operating out of Las Cruces, N.M..
* Classic Motor Lines, a Philipsburg, Pa., dry van carrier operating 180 power units.
* Skinner Transfer Corp., a 130-unit dry van and flatbed carrier based in Reedsburg, Wis.
* All American Transport, operating 100 tractors from Francis Creek, Wis.
* Longistics, a 100-unit refrigerated operation based in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
Transportal is assembling what it has called a "virtual fleet" to operate as a single large entity, taking advantage of volume discounts on one side, sophisticated truckload operations software on the other and passing the benefits on to members.
Familiar names among member fleets already announced include Dick Simon Trucking of Salt Lake City; FFE Transportation Services, Dallas; Boyd Bros. Transportation, Clayton, Ala; and Cornhusker Motor Lines of Omaha, Neb.
Transportal's "virtual fleet" will employ operations software from Logistics.com, a Massachusetts software company with a transportation web-based service of its own (www.logistics.com).
According to Transportal, its Web-based "virtual fleet" now consists of 32 companies that represent nearly $2.5 billion in revenue, 20,000 tractors, and 40,000 trailers. That would place it between the sixth and seventh largest carriers in the nation.
