Transport Corp. of America Inc. plans to ensure the security of its freight management system by incorporating the Contouring Engine into network security at the company.

Transport America is a Minneapolis-based hauler for department store merchandise, grocery, industrial, consumer, paper products and expedited services. The company relies on information systems and satellite-based communications to process orders, optimize scheduling, dispatch loads and monitor loads in transit.
The Contouring Engine, developed by Prodigen, LLC, is the first technology that monitors the activity of trusted users -- typically employees with passwords giving them access to a wide variety of proprietary network systems.
"The Contouring Engine is a unique tool that solves a major business issue by going beyond traditional defensive measures, and providing the opportunity to identify firewall breaches and other security threats," says Keith Klein, chief financial officer and chief information officer of Transport America. "Equally important to us as a publicly-held company is that these additional security measures over digital assets are consistent with new Sarbanes Oxley requirements."
Digital asset protection remains a priority for businesses such as Transport America as they seek to prevent unauthorized access to valuable intellectual property. Leading research firm Gartner Inc. estimates that more than 70% of unauthorized access to information systems is committed by trusted users, and more than 95% of those intrusions lead to financial loss.
"Until now, it’s been virtually impossible to separate the good guys from the bad guys because of the sheer volume of network activity," said Ken Searl, president and CEO of Prodigen. "The Contouring Engine benefits every company with interests in protecting its employees, management and shareholders from the costly results of stolen or destroyed customer lists, patents, new product specifications or other proprietary information."
