Transport America has signed a partnership agreement with the Indiana National Guard and Vincennes University for a Driver Training Apprenticeship Program.
The program is the first of its kind, providing not only hands-on driver experience, but also education in the transportation and logistics field.
The Indiana National Guard has a need for quality truck drivers and Transport America is consistently looking for quality drivers to join the company’s fleet.
This project provides an opportunity for individuals to participate in a two-year apprenticeship program through Transport America and Vincennes University where they are trained on all aspects of driving, as well as online course work in transportation and logistics.
After the two-year apprenticeship, individuals earn a two-year degree in Transportation Logistics.
"This program will cover all realms of transportation training for new drivers to the industry," said Steve Sichterman, director of Human Resources for Transport America. "Students in the program are not only learning the basics of how to back up a trailer, but they are also being educated on transportation and logistics."
For more information, contact Sichterman at (800) 447-1211.
