TransAm Trucking Selects MobileMax from GeoLogic Solutions
GeoLogic Solutions, Owings Mills, Md., announced that Kansas City-based TransAm Trucking will equip its fleet of nearly 1,000 trucks with the GeoLogic’s MobileMax Multi-Mode communications system

TransAm has been a customer of GeoLogic Solutions (formerly known as Aether Systems) for nearly 10 years and had been using a MobileMax Multi-Mode predecessor product.
After a thorough evaluation process, GeoLogic’s MobileMax solution was selected. According to the GeoLogic announcement, the decision was based largely on the system’s multi-mode functionality -- the ability to automatically switch between satellite and terrestrial services.
“At this point we believe all of the communications companies have good solid products,” said Russ McElliott, chief operating officer for TransAm. “It came down to the fact that GeoLogic offers a reliable multi-mode solution that we firmly believe reduces our monthly communications costs, has 100% reliable coverage and helps us with theft recovery.”
In addition to seeing a noticeable decrease in monthly communications costs (according to McElliott, 73% of all messages are sent over the less expensive terrestrial-based network), the company believes the multi-mode functionality increases the company’s odds of theft recovery.
“We are glad TransAm made the decision to stay with us,” said Ken Mitchell, vice president of sales and marketing for GeoLogic Solutions. “They were very wise to re-evaluate the market. A lot has happened in the industry, and it’s great to know that after testing the competition our MobileMax multi-mode system proved to be the best solution for them.”
