Traffic.com of Wayne, Pa., has changed its name to Mobility Technologies, Inc. The change is intended to better reflect the company's technological focus.
At the same time, the company announced the launch of its new business-to-business Web site at www.mobilitytechnologies.com/
Mobility Technologies will be the corporate umbrella for the company's core businesses, including traffic programming to broadcasters; software for commercial fleet carriers; products for auto manufacturers; traffic products for public agencies and commuter services that will retain Traffic.com as the company's consumer brand. The company will continue to offer a consumer web site at www.traffic.com
Mobility Technologies is deploying its Digital Traffic Pulse sensor network, which continually measures traffic flow on major highways to provide accurate, real-time information such as actual speeds and point-to-point travel times. Information is distributed on the Traffic.com web site and featured on radio and television broadcasts as "Traffic Pulse".
In addition to two digitally networked cities, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, the web-based service is available in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Detroit, Baltimore, and Tampa.
