TMCSuperTech2005 Competition Set for September in Valley Forge
The Technology & Maintenance Council of the ATA announced that the trucking industry's best technicians will compete for awards and prizes at TMCSuperTech2005 - the TMC’s inaugural National Technician Skills Competition

The Technology & Maintenance Council of the ATA announced that the trucking industry's best technicians will compete for awards and prizes at TMCSuperTech2005 - the TMC’s inaugural National Technician Skills Competition.
The event will be held Sept. 18-20 in conjunction with TMC's 2005 Fall Meeting, Sept. 19-22, at the Valley Forge Convention Plaza in Valley Forge, Pa. The nation's top commercial vehicle technician will be determined through a variety of troubleshooting tests over the two-day event.
TMCSuperTech2005 will showcase the skill and knowledge shown every day by trucking industry technicians. Any technician employed in the trucking industry may register for TMC's National Technician Skills Competition. Technicians must be a TMC Technician member to compete, however the entry fee of $75 will cover the cost of a TMC Technician membership for one year.
Technicians who are already current TMC Technician members may register for
TMCSuperTech2005 free of charge. Verified champions of state technician skills contests may also enroll without a fee.
Contestants will compete in a challenge round consisting of a written multiple choice examination. Contestants will be given one hour to complete the test.
A maximum 50 contestants will advance to compete in the Hands-On Skills Challenge. Certified grand champions from State Trucking Association contests will automatically be included in the Hands-On Skills Challenge.
Contestants will compete in a series of eight stations, covering the following diagnostic skills areas:
* Electrical
* Brakes
* HVAC
* Engine
* Steering
* Preventive maintenance inspection
* Drive train
* Service information
The TMCSuperTech2005 Grand Champion will receive an expense-paid trip to the 2006 Daytona 500, the Super Bowl, or other equivalent package of their choice, plus other prizes. Second place and third place winners will receive trophies and valuable prizes. Individuals who place Best in Skills Category will also receive recognition. As a bonus, all TMC attendees and TMCSuperTech2005 contestants will be able to attend the PTDC's Training Fair, a series of hands-on training sessions designed for technicians, shop
supervisors and fleet managers.
