The Technology & Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations is asking truck owners for their input on their experience with counterfeit parts.
TMC has launched a new Counterfeit Parts Task Force under its S.5 Fleet Maintenance Management Study Group. The first action of the Task Force is to determine the pervasiveness and awareness level among fleets regarding counterfeit parts.
The Task Force also is evaluating fleet and manufacturer interest in compiling a printed and online directory that will serve as a guideline to industry for discerning counterfeit parts from genuine OEM and aftermarket components. A preliminary example of how the TMC guidelines would appear is attached to the back of this survey.
