TMC Transportation Taps RIDE Grant
TMC Transportation has received a $680,500 grant through the Iowa Department of Natural Resources' Reduce Iowa's Diesel Exhaust (RIDE) program

The RIDE funding will go toward installing Climacab APUs, such as this one, on 100 TMC trucks.
The funding will be used to install Climacab APUs on 100 TMC trucks.
Of the top 12 scoring projects selected to receive a total of $1.6 million, TMC tapped the largest grant. The goal of the grant TMC received is to reduce emissions through the reduction of idle time.
TMC has already started installing the APUs on trucks chosen and approved by the Department of Natural Resources. The project will be completed sometime in March and is expected to reduce diesel emissions by 1,725 tons per year.
The entire RIDE grant, which receives funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, is expected to reduce emissions by 2,100 tons annually.
"TMC works diligently to ensure we are using fuel efficiently and the RIDE grant will enable us to install APUs that can further lower our idle time and reduce emissions," said Jason Webb, executive vice president of asset management.
