Terion's Active Geofencing Meets the Need for Trailer-Tracking Urgency

Terion, Plano, Texas, has introduced Active Geofencing, the latest enhancement to its FleetView 3 trailer management system.

FleetView 3 Active Geofencing stores user-defined geofences in the memory of the unit on the trailer. That means the unit knows immediately when it has crossed a geofence and can send an alert. Server-based geofencing isn’t aware a geofence has been breached until the trailer unit is polled or sends a scheduled alert.
Terion customers can specify the method by which Active Geofencing notifies them – by e-mail, text message or cell phone, for instance.
Examples of FleetView Active Geofencing capabilities follow:
• Landmark Entry/Exit - FleetView 3 can report entry to or exit from a landmark, even if the trailer simply passes through the landmark.
• Unloaded Outside Landmark - With Terion’s Cargo Sensor, customers can receive an alert if a trailer is unloaded outside its intended destination or a set of allowable destinations.
• Door Open Outside Landmark - Send an alert notification if the trailer door is opened outside its destination without having to send a message every time the door opens.
FleetView 3 provides a trailer management system that combines a high-bandwidth wireless capacity with intelligent messaging and sensor capabilities. Typical benefits include an increase in trailer utilization and a reduced trailer-to-tractor ratio. Information is provided to the operator over the Internet through Terion’s patented hardware and software design. The design integrates GPS and digital CDMA cellular technology for comprehensive coverage throughout the United States and Canada.
FleetView communicates real-time trailer location and event status when the trailer is tethered or untethered, including loaded or unloaded status with FleetView’s Cargo Sensor. The system supports over-the-air software downloads for device settings and software upgrades. Trailers need not return to base for upgrades.
