Terion Assisting Fans in Solar Car Challenge
Terion, a leading provider of trailer management systems, said its FleetView tracking systems will monitor participants’ location in the Dell-Winston Solar Car Challenge, the world’s largest

longest-running high school solar car race, as they drive more than 1,500 miles over the next week.
Teams of six to eight students will drive their self-designed, self-built solar cars from Dell’s Round Rock, Texas headquarters to the Florida Solar Energy Center in Cocoa, Fla. The FleetView tracking systems will enable race fans to monitor the progress of their favorite race teams 24 hours a day by visiting www.terion.com and clicking on the Dell-Winston Solar Car Challenge logo.
The Dell-Winston Solar Car Challenge originated eight years ago at The Winston School in Dallas, Texas. The race encourages high school students to learn 21st Century skills and the benefits of alternative energy by building solar-powered cars. "Terion is honored to play a role in this solar car program. We see this as leveraging the latest technology available today through our FleetView product to support the development of technology in the future," said Todd Felker, vice president of marketing with Terion.
FleetView provides a comprehensive trailer fleet management system that allows transportation companies to maximize efficiencies associated with trailer fleet operations. Typical benefits associated with FleetView include an increase in trailer utilization and a reduced trailer-to-tractor ratio. Information is provided to the operator through the Internet from its patented hardware and software design. The design integrates GPS and cellular technology for comprehensive coverage throughout the United States and Canada. The system is concealed to provide a covert installation.
FleetView communicates real-time trailer location and event status when the trailer is tethered or untethered, including an accurate determination of loaded or unloaded status with FleetView’s Cargo Sensor. The system uniquely supports over-the-air software downloads for device settings and software
upgrades.
