Teletouch Communications Inc., Tyler, Texas, announced that Transport Continental Inc. of Pharr, Texas, has installed Teletouch GeoTrax trailer tracking on 171 flatbed trailers.

Transport Continental is a flatbed and heavy-haul specialist providing service in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
"Teletouch has provided us with something we weren't sure we would ever
have -- the ability to know exactly where our flatbed trailers are," said TCI
President Jim Cowart. "We've already had additional business wins based on
our ability to track the trailers."
According to Teletouch, the company was able to covertly mount wireless, self-contained, battery-powered devices on TCI flatbeds for less than $300 apiece.
"Outfitting a flatbed trailer with a satellite-based tracking device wasn't an easy task," said Teletouch President J. Kernan Crotty.
GeoTrax provides GPS location information and communicates over the GlobalStar satellite system.
