The Teamsters union protested proposed right-to-work legislation in Oklahoma, with a convoy of 10 Teamster trucks circling the Capitol building in Oklahoma City and a rally of between 50 and 100 Teamster members.

The bill would let voters decide whether unions should be prohibited from requiring workers to pay dues. The union says such legislation would "harm workers who depend upon the strength of their union to support their families. By allowing workers to opt out of union representation at their place of employment, management can single out pro-union workers and weaken the union."
The union says right-to-work legislation would make it difficult for workers to bargain for fair contracts in the state. "Without a contract, management is free to pay workers whatever wages or benefits they wish, all while fattening their own wallets," said Terry Raulston, president of Local 886 in Oklahoma City.
Senate debate on the bill is scheduled for next week.
The trucks were part of the convoy that traveled from Minneapolis to Dallas over the weekend to protest the opening of the Mexican border.
