The Teamsters union is holding three dozen rallies around the country today for striking workers at Overnite Transportation, which the union has been staging an unfair labor practices strike against since Oct. 24.

Teamster President James P. Hoffa will participate in two Kansas City events. In the morning, Hoffa will walk the Overnite strikeline in Kansas City, KS. In the afternoon, Hoffa will hold a rally for striking workers at Overnite Transportation's Kansas City, MO, terminal.
The union says the rallies are being held to "put the spotlight on … one of the nation's worst labor law violators."
Rallies are being held in Kansas City; Asheville, NC; Aurora, IL; Bristol, TN; Charlotte, NC; Cleveland, OH; Dallas; Denver; Elkton, MD; Fullerton, CA; Grand Rapids, MI; Garland, TX; Harrisburg, PA; Laredo, TX; Lexington, KY; Memphis, TN; Moonachie, NY; New Orleans; Palatine, IL; Philadelphia; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Rochester, NY; Roanoke, VA; Rockford, IL; Sacramento; Salt Lake City; Springfield, MA; Tyler, TX; Wallingford, CT; and Washington, DC.
Rallies will be held later in Atlanta and in Toledo, OH.
In the 12th week of the Teamsters action, Bloomberg reports that Overnite Transportation had revenue growth of only about 2% in the fourth quarter, much lower than previous growth levels of 7% to 8%. The company has spend $22 million in higher expenses due to the strike. However, Overnite President Leo Suggs said the impact of the strike has been minimal, with little disruption of shipments.
Hoffa disagreed, saying the Teamsters will win the "war of attrition."
