The Teamsters union announced late last week that its carhaul negotiators had reached a tentative national agreement with the National Automobile Transporters Labor Division.


"The economic conditions facing the auto industry and nation as a whole made negotiations very difficult, but the national committee remained focused on the members' priorities - maintaining their benefits with no additional costs to members and protecting job security," said Fred Zuckerman, Teamsters Carhaul Division Director and lead negotiator. "Wages are also protected."

"It was tough to get a good contract, but we believe we have achieved that," Zuckerman said. "I would like to thank General President Jim Hoffa, all the national committee members and all our carhaul members who have supported us every step of the way."

More details about the tentative agreement will be reported once leaders from local unions that represent carhaul members get a chance to review the agreement and consider approving it.

The national three-year contract covers 9,000 workers.
