Patrick Quinn, co-chairman of U.S. Xpress Enterprises of Chattanooga, Tenn., has been elected 2001-2002 chairman of the Truckload Carriers Assn.

The swearing-in ceremony took place during the association's annual meeting in San Antonio this week.
Quinn started off his transportation career as a lawyer, getting his J.D. degree from the University of Nebraska in 1971 and practicing as a transportation lawyer until 1977. In 1977, he joined Southwest Equipment Rental as vice president and general counsel, and was named executive vice president and general manager in 1984. From there, he left in 1985 to found U.S. Xpress with Max L. Fuller.
A long-time member of TCA, Quinn has served on numerous committees and management panels throughout the years. He is also active in the American Trucking Associations.
Quinn replaces Bob Hansen, president of Janesville Jet Center in Janesville, Wis., who now serves as immediate past chairman.
Ronnie Dowdy, president of Ronnie Dowdy Inc. in Batesville, Ark., was elected first vice chairman. Don Oren, president of Dart Transit, Eagan, Minn., was elected second vice chairman. The new secretary is Clifton Parker, president of G&P Trucking in Gaston, S.C. Treasurer is Richard "Buck" Jenkins, treasurer and general manager of Diamond Transportation System in Racine, Wis. Assn. Vice Chairman to ATA is Don Bowman, chairman of D.M. Bowman Inc. in Williamsport, Md.
At-large officers are Glenn Brown, chairman and president, Contract Freighters Inc., Joplin, Mo.; Ronald DeBoer, president, deBoer Inc., Blenker, Wis.; Tonn Ostergard, president and CEO, Crete Carrier Corp., Lincoln, Neb.; and Arlan Van Wyk, chairman, Van Wyk Inc., Sheldon, Iowa.
