The Truckload Carriers Association and its industry partner, uDrove, have sponsored a central website for all events during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
DriverAppreciation.com allows professional truck drivers to easily locate upcoming NTDAW activities taking place in North America and plan their schedules accordingly.
Events can be searched within a specified state/province, city, and/or distance in miles from a city. Event listings provide not only basic contact and location information, but also the type of activity (free meal, discount offer, prizes/gifts, etc.), drivers who may attend (all CDL holders, only CDL holders affiliated with the host company, etc.), and if the general public and media are invited to participate.
"There are so many companies honoring professional drivers during Truck Driver Appreciation Week that the industry really needed a clearinghouse to keep track of them all," said Gary Salisbury, TCA chairman and the president and chief executive officer of Fikes Truck Line of Hope, Ark. "We encourage drivers to check back frequently as new events are added, and of course we also encourage trucking companies and industry suppliers to make sure their activities get listed so everyone can find them."
NTDAW is an annual industry-wide effort to honor and recognize professional truck drivers, and to draw public attention to the vital role that trucking plays in the economic growth of North America.
In the United States alone, trucking employs 6.8 million workers, not including those who are self-employed. Of these, about 3.2 million are professional drivers who consistently and reliably deliver 68%, or 8.8 billion tons, of the nation's freight tonnage.
