"Eye on the Economy," an audio conference sponsored by the Truckload Carriers Assn.’s (TCA) Truckload Academy, will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m EDT on Thursday, July 24.
TCA conducts a series of monthly audio conferences on a variety of subjects directed not only to CEOs, but also to other employees within the trucking industry. In the July 24 audio conference, participants will be able to get up-to-the-minute information from experts concerning the anticipated growth of the economy and what it will mean to their company in the upcoming months. Bob Costello, ATA’s chief economist, and Donald Broughton, A.G. Edwards & Sons, senior analyst, transportation equities, will provide information and insight that can directly affect profitability. The audio conference will cover the following material and more:
-- The general economic trends, including gross domestic product, employment, consumer confidence, retail sales, interest rates and inflation
-- The specific manufacturing trends, regarding autos, capital goods, durables and non-durables
-- The motor carrier industry trends
-- Freight volumes by TL carrier type, small, large, average length of haul, freight segments
-- Carrier cost trends, like fuel, driver wages and insurance
-- Carrier bankruptcies, driver turnover, equipment trends
-- Regulatory developments that may impact carrier operations or bottom lines
-- The anticipated outlook for the economy and trucking
Audio conferences are an inexpensive, convenient way for individuals to receive information over the telephone. If a speakerphone is used, the company can train as many individuals as desired - all for the same price. Cassettes of the audio conference proceedings can be purchased for reference or future additional training.
Individuals also have the ability to ask questions during the audio conference, making the experience interactive as well.
For prices and other information, email TLA@truckload.org or contact Virginia DeRoze at (703) 838-1950.
