TCA Hosts Conference on Legal Pitfalls of Screening Drivers
The Truckload Carriers Association is hosting an audio conference from noon to 1:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 26, entitled "Avoiding Legal Pitfalls in Interviewing and Screening Drivers.

With the increasing demand for qualified drivers in a tightening market, the emphasis on driver recruiting and hiring has never been greater. This creates an environment where legal pitfalls in the interviewing and hiring process become traps for the unwary. These legal problems cost unwitting companies hundreds of thousands of dollars in unnecessary damages and attorney fees.
This audio conference will focus on how fleets can effectively incorporate legal safeguards into their recruiting, screening and hiring practices. In this audio conference participants will learn the answers to the following questions:
• Do you know the steps you can take now to minimize potential liability in your interviewing and screening practices?
• What are the prohibited areas of inquiry that can get you in legal trouble?
• How can you get the information you need while steering clear of legal pitfalls?
• What are your rights in conducting pre-hire testing and medical examinations?
• What is the difference between pre-hire questions and post-offer inquires? Why is it significant?
• How should you frame the questions?
• Are there potential risks if you knowingly hire away a competitor's drivers?
