The 16th Annual Company Equipment Driver of the Year contest sponsored by the Truckload Carriers Assn.
, Detroit Diesel and Truckers News honored five TCA-member company drivers last week during TCA's Annual Convention at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. The awards are based on excellent safety records, unblemished work history, and involvement in the community and industry.
The top five winners and their prizes are:
Grand Prize Winner, Brian O'Leary
O'Leary has driven 3.5 million accident-free miles and 19 years with Western Distributing.
Second Place Winner, Richard Downin
Downin has driven over two million safe miles with D.M. Bowman, Inc.
Third Place Winner, Darrell Hand
Hand has worked for O & S Trucking since 1998 and has driven 4.9 million lifetime miles.
Fourth Place Winner, Robert Hagen
Hagen has driven for Challenger Motor Freight for the last 19 years.
Fifth Place Winner, Ruppert "Rudy" Stevens
Stevens has driven for 44 years, 34 of them for Epes,
and logged over four million miles.
All the winners received prizes from a number of sponsors.
