The 67th Annual Convention of the Truckload Carriers Association kicked off over the weekend in Las Vegas, a bustling city that barely existed 40 years ago.

It seems like natural gathering spot for the truckload industry that has come into its own – and then some – over the past 25 years.
On Sunday, the association elected Dave Berry of Swift Transportation Co. Inc. chairman for 2005-2006
Berry has been active in the trucking industry since 1973 and has been with Swift Transportation Co., Inc. for fifteen years.
Berry is a past chairman of the Arizona Trucking Assn. and past chair of the American Trucking Associations Tax Policy Committee. He currently serves ATA as a member of the environmental, tax policy, and highway policy committees. Berry'has been a TCA board member for nearly a decade, acting as first vice chairman for 2004-2005, and chairing the North American Transportation Management Institute.
The following individuals were also elected:
- First Vice Chairman: Barry Pottle, president, Pottle's Transportation Inc., Bangor, Maine
- Second Vice Chairman: Jim O'Neal, president, O & S Trucking, Springfield, Mo.
- Secretary: Kevin Burch, president, Jet Express Inc., Dayton, Ohio
- Treasurer: Ray Haight, president & COO, MacKinnon Transport Inc., Guelph, Ontario, Canada
- Association Vice Chairman to ATA: Clifton Parker, president, G&P Trucking Co. Inc., Gaston, S.C.
- Immediate Past Chairman: Lance Craig, president, Craig Transportation Co., Perrysburg, Ohio
At-Large officers are:

- John Kaburick, president, Earl L. Henderson Trucking Company, Salem, Ill.
- Chris Kozak, president, Willis Shaw Express, Elm Springs, Ark.
- Robert Stranzeck, president, Cresco Lines Inc., Harvey Ill.
This week, TCA convention attendees will hear from football legend Don Shula and from American Trucking Associations President and CEO Bill Graves, among others. There will be lots of new product and technology announcements as well.
