TCA Accepting Nominations For Driver, Contractor Contests

The Truckload Carriers Assn. is taking nominations for its annual Independent Contractor of the Year and Company Equipment Driver of the Year contests.
Independent contractors and drivers will be judged on their performance record, ability to operate in a safe manner, enhancement of trucking's public image, and contributions to the community.
The Grand Prize winner of the Independent Contractor contest will receive a 2000 Navistar International premium conventional tractor as well as numerous other prizes such as U.S. Savings Bonds, gift certificates, truck parts and accessories, fuel coupons, clothing, etc.
There will be three Grand Prize winners in the Company Equipment Driver of the Year contest. Among other prizes, each will receive two round-trip tickets to the 2000 California 500 NASCAR race at the California Speedway, Fontana, CA, courtesy of Detroit Diesel, as well as lodging, meals and spending money.
The contests are open to any company driver employed by, or independent contractor leased to, a TCA member trucking company in good standing. They must be nominated by the motor carrier, and have to have been employed by or leased to the company for at least three years.
