TravelCenters of America today launched their support of the 2011 customer and employee donation drive to benefit St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF).
SCF is an organization helping truck drivers suffering from financial hardship due to medical problems. The organization also funds health research to benefit professional drivers.
During the month-long event, guests of TA and Petro will be invited to make donations of $1 or more. Commemorative wristbands will be given to everyone who donates. TA locations will award blue wristbands, and Petro locations will award green wristbands. Donations may be made at all company restaurants, travel stores, fuel islands and truck service facilities. One hundred percent of all donations will go to SCF.
TravelCenters has been supporting drivers through SCF since the Driver's Relief Fund was founded in 2007. Last year, the TA and Petro customer and employee campaign donated $215,000 -- the largest single donation SCF had ever received -- and helped provide assistance to 330 drivers and their families in 2010.
"We are so thankful to be able to partner with a company like TravelCenters that understands the needs of drivers. With TA and Petro promoting driver donations, we are able to help more people in need with monthly bills, including utilities and mortgages," said Dr. Donna Kennedy, Executive Director of SCF.
The "Band Together for SCF" campaign will run at all TA and Petro sites from Nov. 15 - Dec. 15, 2011.
