Swift Selects Qualcomm’s T2 Untethered TrailerTRACS, Extrends OmniTRACS Contract
Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, Calif., announced that truckload carrier Swift Transportation will equip its fleet of trailers with the T2 Untethered TrailerTRACS asset management solution

Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, Calif., announced that truckload carrier Swift Transportation will equip its fleet of trailers with the T2 Untethered TrailerTRACS asset management solution.
At the same time, Qualcomm announced that the Pheonix-based carrier also extended its contract to use Qualcomm’s OmniTRACS satellite driver communications system.
Installation of the T2 Untethered TrailerTRACS solution will enable Swift to optimize trailer utilization by tracking the location and status of each of its trailers at any time.
The T2 Untethered TrailerTRACS asset management solution provides near
real-time positive tractor/trailer identification, trailer location and
optional cargo and door-status data, in addition to mobile-based geofencing. T2 uses standard third-generation Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and analog cellular technology to provide a broad North American coverage footprint to deliver automatic GPS location reports and alert data from optional cargo and door sensors when tethered or untethered. Trailer management data from the T2 system can be integrated with dispatch and operations software using Qualcomm's AS/400 trailer fleet management software, allowing fleets to better analyze and plan trailer usage.
