Wal-Mart Stores Inc. recently recognized Swift Transportation as the recipient of the company's annual "Carrier of the Year" award.
"Swift Transportation provided outstanding truckload service for Wal-Mart in 2005," said Tracy Rosser, vice president of Wal-Mart Corporate Traffic. "Their great support throughout 2005 has ultimately allowed us to better serve our customers."
This year, Wal-Mart recognized 12 carriers for their outstanding service in their respective categories. Some of those categories included Small Package Carrier of the Year, Grocery Carrier of the Year, and Rising Star Carrier of the Year.
"Given the very high standards Wal-Mart uses in selecting their service partners, we at Swift are deeply honored to receive this 'best in class' award for two years in a row and the third time in four years," said Robert W. Cunningham, Swift president and CEO. "Credit goes to the 24,000 dedicated professionals at Swift Transportation who safely deliver world-class service to our customers."
Selection criteria for the award included revenue/growth, ease of doing business, communication, flexibility, customer service and follow-up/correction of errors.
Swift is the holding company for Swift Transportation Co. Inc, a truckload carrier headquartered in Phoenix. Swift's trucking subsidiary operates the largest fleet of truckload equipment in the United States with regional operations throughout the continental United States.
