Freightliner Trucks has made available Stand-Up Right-Hand Drive (SURHD) as a factory-warranted option for Business Class M2 106 and 106V truck models. SURHD is an option designed for refuse,

recycling and other specialized medium-duty applications requiring curbside entry and exit. The option comes with a two-year, unlimited mileage warranty.
"The SURHD option was very popular with the M2's predecessor, the Freightliner Business Class,” said Jonathan Randall, director of marketing at Freightliner Trucks. "By carrying the option over to the Business Class M2 models, we are making it easier for drivers to customize their vehicles in a way that makes sense for their business."
To enable SURHD, the right side of the cab is replaced by an upright unit containing a steering wheel, gauges and fuel and brake pedals, allowing the driver to operate the vehicle from a standing position, improving ease and efficiency on the job. The seated, left-hand portion of the cab is maintained for longer commutes, providing operational flexibility and maximum maneuverability.
SURHD is currently offered through Freightliner Trucks dealers as a conversion and is executed by third-party body builders. Randall says purchasing SURHD as a factory-warranted option saves customers and dealers time by reducing the number of transactions. "Factory-warranted SURHD means customers can order a custom vehicle from their dealer and the conversion is handled entirely by Freightliner," says Randall. "This process eliminates a step for dealers and ensures the customer leaves the dealership with a Stand-Up Right-Hand Drive vehicle, ready to have the body mounted."
