Spirit Underground Selects GlobalTRACS
Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, Calif., announced that Spirit Underground LLC, an installer of underground utilities, is outfitting its heavy equipment fleet with Qualcomm’s GlobalTRAC

equipment management solution. GlobalTRACS collects operational data that improves operational efficiency and helps prevent unauthorized use and theft of critical equipment.
"We chose to implement GlobalTRACS on our fleet of heavy equipment in part because of its advanced theft prevention capabilities," said Dean Walker, managing member of Spirit Underground. "In fact, just four months after installing the technology we were able to recover both a stolen backhoe and a loader, and have them back at the job site that same day. With the GlobalTRACS system, we experienced a return on investment in a period of 24 hours."
QUALCOMM's GlobalTRACS solution has several features to enhance the security of construction equipment, including automatic GPS positioning, street-level location mapping and virtual security fence configuration. These all represent valuable tools to contractors who must track expensive resources in multiple locations and require constant up-to-the-minute updates. GlobalTRACS also provides engine-use data that helps contractors monitor labor productivity, identify underutilized equipment, distribute resources more efficiently and develop a maintenance program based on actual usage.
GlobalTRACS has ruggedized hardware, state-of-the-art network services and extensive data integration capabilities. It collects, manages and transmits equipment operating status and location data, all easily accessible through a web-based application or integrated into existing back-end business software systems.
