Smithway Selects Route Advice and Trip Alert
Integrated Decision Support Corp., Richardson, Texas, announced that Smithway Motor Xpress Inc. has selected Route Advice and Trip Alert software

Smithway based in Fort Dodge, Iowa, provides short- to medium-haul truckload services in the U.S. and Canada with a fleet of 1,200 company and owner-operator tractors and some 2,000 trailers, including dry vans and flatbeds.
According to Integrated Decision Support, Route Advice combines data sources with existing dispatch and mobile communications systems to provide drivers with accurate turn-by-turn directions. Trip Alert provides asset tracking management and event monitoring to improve customer value and reduce and control costs.
Route Advice keeps pace with the location of the vehicle at all times. This enables Route Advice to provide directions from the current vehicle location to the customer, from the planned route to the customer, and from the customer back to the planned route. Route Advice also keeps customer information current up-to-the-minute by integrating with dispatch in real-time--every time a new customer is added, Route Advice automatically geocodes that customer location.
Advanced geocoding capabilities are built-in to counter incorrect or incomplete address information. This resolves exceptions ensuring latitude/longitude precision.
Trip Alert, an advanced asset tracking management solution, offers global visibility of an entire fleet with continuous monitoring of each vehicle position. Trip Alert automatically sends notification if a driver is out-of-route or is going to be late. Trip Alert tracks high-value cargo and hazmat, and it offers swap opportunities for improving equipment and driver utilization.
