SMC3 has built its 2010 Winter Conference to give participants an all-encompassing view of the economic, political and general business issues that could impact them in the coming year, as well as practical solutions for dealing with these issues.

Kicking off the conference is a panel discussion focusing on the greening of the supply chain, giving attendees an opportunity to learn firsthand how business leaders have lessened their organizational carbon footprint to green their supply chain and their bottom line. The discussion panelists will include Kevin Smith, a career supply chain practitioner who is currently the president and CEO of Sustainable Supply Chain Consulting; David Miller, senior vice president of global policy and economic sustainability at Con-way; and John Felmy, chief economist at the American Petroleum Institute.

In another panel, G. Tommy Hodges, chairman of the American Trucking Associations, will present the "Washington view" on labor, energy and greening, as well as how to become an active advocate.

Following Hodges' presentation, an association executive panel discussion will convene, moderated by Rick Blasgen, president and CEO of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. The discussion will also feature David Bradley, CEO of the Canadian Trucking Alliance and president of the Ontario Trucking Association; Bruce Carlton, president and CEO of the National Industrial Transportation League; Kevin Burch, chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association; and Bob Voltmann, president and CEO of the Transportation Intermediaries Association. Discussing their organizational perspectives and positions on the key issues facing the transportation and supply chain industries, these panelists will provide insights to conference attendees looking to make a positive organizational impact in 2010.

SMC3 educational partners will also be on hand to give updates on key business influencers such as the global economy, industry financials and U.S. politics. This will include John Bagileo, who has been practicing transportation law for more than 40 years; Jon Langenfeld, Robert W. Baird & Co. research analyst; Donald Ratajczak, emeritus professor of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and consulting economist for leading businesses and governmental agencies; and Larry Sabato, Robert Kent Gooch professor of politics at the University of Virginia and a political forecaster.

The conference will also feature two bonus sessions, including "Dimensional Technology and Pricing" and "Indices as a Forecasting Tool."

SMC3 is a transportation industry association representing motor carriers, shippers and logistics service providers, especially in the less-than-truckload sector.
