Sloan Transportation Products, Holland, Mich., announced that the winning entry in its “What’s Your Big Idea?” contest was submitted by Freddie Carver
, owner, F&F Trucking, Tampa, Fla. Carver’s idea for an electrical safety device is currently under development by Sloan engineers and will be unveiled at a later date when the product is ready for market. Carver’s winning idea entitles him to the Grand Prize of $1,000.
For the past year Sloan has invited heavy-duty professionals to offer their best ideas for new and improved air and electrical products. Kenny Scott, owner/operator of Werhane of Winnsboro, Texas was the First Prize winner in the contest of a Sony all-in-one DVD player. His entry was selected in a random drawing among all contest entries.
“The Big Idea was a great success for our company. It gave us the opportunity to hear ideas directly from the field -- ideas that can help us develop products that meet the needs of owner operators, fleets and end users,” said Douglas S. Thomson, Sloan’s vice president, sales and marketing.
