Aether Systems Inc., Owings Mills, Md., announced that Sitton Motor Lines has agreed to a multi-year contract extension for mobile communications

throughout its entire fleet, and will install nearly 100 additional MobileMax units.
The new order brings Sitton’s total deployment of Aether mobile communications systems to more than 500 units. The carrier also signaled its intention to gradually upgrade its entire fleet -- about 85% of which currently operates with a previous generation system -- to MobileMax, Aether’s exclusive multi-mode wireless communications and tracking solution.
Sitton Motor Lines is a truckload carrier based in Joplin, Mo.
Sitton will also implement MobileMax’s ADV application, which delivers automatic state line crossing data, driver performance information, and vehicle fault codes. MobileMax operates in a multi-mode manner that automatically switches between land-based and satellite communications without driver or dispatcher intervention for the widest coverage and most cost-efficient communication.
