"Always a bridesmaid, never a bride"? Not so for Sandvik Trucking's "Delirious Desire," which won Best of Show Combo at the Stars & Stripes truck beauty contest at The Alamo travel center in Reno, Nev., last week.

The 1992 Peterbilt 379 with 1993 Ravens Flatbed won first runner-up at the Stars & Stripes show at the International Trucking Show in June. But at TruckerFest, Sandvik's Al Scibilia and Rick Torres walked away with top prize.
Another Sandvik truck earned the People's Choice award, the 1996 white and purple Peterbilt 379 "Kaotic" driven by Chuck Prigge.
Best of Show Bobtail went to Tim Thornhill and Trees Forever for their 1986 tan and red Peterbilt 359, which won a second-place Bobtail 1985-1994 at ITS.
Competitor's Choice was H&H Trucking/Rob Harris and their 1994 Blue Kenworth W900L with 1987 Dorsey reefer trailer nicknamed "Not Too Blue."
A new award, "Diesel Dave's Pick of the Litter," chosen by RoadStar driver correspondent Dave Sweetman, went to Gene and Hilda Smith and their 1949 Green Pete/1983 Fontaine dropdeck, "El Turbo."
The Stars & Stripes contest is put on by Newport Communications and sponsored by Chevron. Class winners were as follows:
