Shell SuperRigs Starts Today
Shell’s Rotella SuperRigs Truck Beauty Contest will celebrate its 20th anniversary starting today, June 6, at the East Ontario TravelCenters of America in Ontario, Calif
Shell’s Rotella SuperRigs Truck Beauty Contest will celebrate its 20th anniversary starting today, June 6, at the East Ontario TravelCenters of America in Ontario, Calif.
Working trucks from around the nation will compete for more than $20,000 in cash and prizes, plus an opportunity to appear in the 2003 Rotella SuperRigs calendar.
“This year’s contest will be the best ever.” Said Shirley Yin-Piazza, marketing manager for Shell Rotalla T. “We’re doubling the amount of cash awarded to winners of the contest and the rest of the prizes they receive will be bigger and better as well.”
Truckers will compete in Tractor, Tractor/Trailer combination, and Classic categories, with the top 18 rigs receiving awards. A panel of trucking celebrity judges will score the rigs on exterior appearance, design, detail, and workmanship.
Rigs will be judged from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 6 and Friday, June 7, and from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 8. Drivers can register on arrival and go through the entry line when they are ready. The judging takes approximately 20 minutes. There is no entry fee and contestants do not have to be present to win. Only working trucks operating in inter- or intrastate commerce are eligible. State DOT authority or ICC numbers on the truck are required proof for entry.
Every entrant receives a $50 value gift package, including Shell Rotella T 15W-40, Shell Rotella ELC Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze, Rotella DFA Diesel Fuel Additive, a tube of Shell Retinax grease, a Rotella SuperRigs hat and T-shirt, and other items. Also, there will be a random drawing for all drivers who pull through for judging with prizes ranging from die-cast collectible trucks to a new in-dash satellite stereo system.
