The 26th Shell Rotella SuperRigs truck beauty competition will be held at the Iowa 80 Truckstop in Walcott, Iowa, June 5-7.
Activities this year will include a dog beauty contest, called the SuperRigs SuperDog contest. Prizes will be awarded for SuperDog (best looking), SuperTalent (best trick) and SuperTwins (dog and owner who look most alike).
Two Tech Talks have also been added as well. Drivers will have the opportunity to hear a short presentation and ask questions of a Shell Lubricants expert about current topics related to diesel trucks.
Shell Rotella SuperRigs will also include musical performances from Joey Holiday, the #29 Shell-Pennzoil Kevin Harvick show car, Shell racing simulator, bingo, and other activities. A Friday night concert is planned and the annual "Big Rigs Lights" contest will light up SuperRigs on Friday night at 9 p.m.
Actively working owner-operator trucks from across the United States and Canada will compete for cash prizes valued at $25,000, with $10,000 going to the Best of Show winner. Additionally, 12 drivers will be selected to have their truck featured in the 2009 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar.
Trucks are judged by industry professionals who work for major trucking publications and broadcast companies. Judges score the rigs on exterior appearance, design, detail/finish, originality, and workmanship. In total, 25 working trucks receive awards for categories such as Best of Show, Tractor, Tractor-Trailer Combination and Classic categories.
