Schneider National and FreightWatch International will participate in an audio conference covering the topic of supply chain security.
The audio conference will be hosted by Kane's Beverage News Daily on Monday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. Eastern time.
Despite the fact that cargo thefts were up 12 percent in 2009 and 13 percent in 2008, Schneider managed to reduce customer freight thefts by 31 percent in 2008, the carrier said. Schneider National and FreightWatch International have been working on deploying a combination of high- and low-tech techniques to combat cargo theft.
The audio conference will cover supply chain security at large, steps beverage vendors can take to protect barrels of beer and cases of wine and spirits from today's thieves, and how Schneider turned the corner on cargo thefts to deliver a $1.3 million reduction year-over-year in the value of merchandise stolen.
The speakers will include Walt Fountain, director of loss prevention and enterprise security for Schneider National, and Dan Burges, director of consultancy and intelligence for FreightWatch International.
