Massachusetts-based Rypos, which provides diesel exhaust filtration products, has been educating the industry on the California Air Resources Board's regulation for transport refrigeration units (TRUs), as the compliance deadline approaches Dec. 31.


Its effort includes sponsoring training for ARB inspectors, offering webinars to dealers and distributors, and posting information at truckstops in California, Arizona, Nevada and Oregon.

The new law requires TRUs that operate in California and are older than seven years to be retrofitted or replaced to reduce particulate matter emissions. Depending on the model year, TRUs may be retrofitted with a diesel particulate filter to meet the standard.

Rypos distributes Rypos DPF/LETRU and the Proventia FTF and Bobtail FTF, which can be used to meet the CARB regulation.
