Mike Ryan, Hollywood stunt driver and owner of Picture Vehicles Unlimited will display his hand-built Mercedes Benz-powered Freightliner Century Class S/T Super Truck during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week in Las Vegas, Jan. 23-27.
Ryan designed the truck specifically for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The race truck engine is a 1,250 horsepower Mercedes Benz with 2,700 foot-pounds of torque. It is equipped with a ZF 5 speed transmission and modified for racing. The suspension is a four-link front end and a three-link rear end, much like a sprint car. Ryan recently set his fifth new record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb held annually in Colorado Springs, Colo., with a time of 12:46.81. This year’s race will be held on July 1, 2006, and will air on NBC.
The truck is also scheduled to display at The World Ag Expo Feb. 14-16 in Tulare, Calif., The Mid America Truck Show March 23-25 in
Louisville, Ky., and The Truck World Canada April 20-22 in Toronto.
Ryan has more than 500 feature films, television shows and commercials to his credit. Thousands have seen his work in feature films such as, Herbie Fully Loaded, After The Sunset, and The Italian Job. Allstate is currently airing a national commercial in which Ryan both did the stunt driving and coordinating.
