Peterbilt mega-dealer Rush Enterprises posted a $1.6 million loss in fourth quarter 2000 on sales of $211.6 million.
In fourth quarter 1999 it had a net income of $4.8 million on revenues of $226.3 million.
Fourth quarter 2000 heavy duty truck sales were $170.6 million compared to $189.7 million in fourth quarter 1999. Rush delivered 1,310 new trucks and 462 used trucks, compared to 1,483 new trucks and 504 used trucks during the same period in 1999. Truck related parts, service and body shop sales were $41.5 million, up 21.3 percent from fourth quarter 1999.
Revenues for the year totaled $897.4 million, up 11 percent from 1999. Net income was $3.3 million, down 79.6 percent from the previous year.
Rush operates the largest network of Peterbilt truck dealerships in North America with operations in Texas, California, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Michigan. It also has John Deere construction equipment dealerships in Texas and Michigan.
