Rotella SuperRigs Event Draws Crowd of 10,000
More than 10,000 people attended the 25th annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition last week at the Joplin Petro Stopping Center in Joplin, Mo., a three-day event that saw 118 working trucks competing for cash and prizes.

Thousands of visitors attended this year's Shell Rotella SuperRigs event.
Walking away with "Best of Show" honors was Curtis Christians of Rockford, Mo. He took the top prize of $10,000 for his 2005 Peterbilt tractor and 2005 Great Dane trailer combination.
The other big winners at SuperRigs were Bob and Geri Martin who were awarded a $50,000 truck makeover for their 1995 Peterbilt 379. SuperRigs attendees selected the winner from six nominated trucks. The makeover will be done by S&J Truck Sales of Fort Wayne, Ind. Partners for the makeover include Bridgestone, Alcoa, and Pana-Pacific.
In total, 25 prizes were awarded in categories that ranged from best tractor to best engine. The People's Choice award was won by the 2000 Freightliner Classic XL of Bob and Shelley Brinker of Grayling, Mich.
A select group of 13 truckers also won the bragging rights to appear beside their trucks in the 2008 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar. For more information about the Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition and photos from the event, visit www.rotella.com.
