RODI Power Systems, which has been developing a new lightweight, 45-hp two-stroke diesel engine since 1994, recently started parts fabrication and set a tentative schedule for pilot production assembly.
The company has completed design work and is now fabricating and machining parts for five pre-production HTI-450 engines, scheduled to be assembled in November. Two of the engines will be sent to the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio for December emission certification testing, and one will be extensively tested at RODI’s Kent, WA, facilities. The other two engines will be installed in a Freightliner FLD 120 and a 1999 International in January for regional over-the-road testing.
Following the successful completion of testing, RODI intends to open a pilot assembly plant in Auburn, WA. Production engines assembled at this facility will be field tested with customers in the Pacific Northwest. For more information, visit RODI on the Internet at http://www.rodi.com.
