Qualcomm, Inc. has released version 3.0 of ViaWeb, its Internet load tracking interface. ViaWeb puts data from Qualcomm mobile communications systems such as OmniTRACS and OmniExpress ViaWeb on the Internet.
According to Qualcomm, ViaWeb 3.0 provides access to real-time information on loads transported throughout the NAFTA region. That includes loads transferred to Qualcomm-equipped Mexican carriers
New features in version 3.0 include a simpler interface, support for multiple loads per manifest and driver-initiated load assignments. Now fleets with manual dispatching can use ViaWeb.
Qualcomm said customers can easily access the status of a fleet or an individual truck on the Internet. ViaWeb can display load status, location, proof-of-delivery and more.
A ViaWeb page can be customized with the carrier's logo and made available to shippers who can then track their own shipments on the web. It also allows carriers to track shipments when another carrier has been sub-contracted for final delivery.
ViaWeb data can supplement Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions. Version 3.0 of ViaWeb is available in both English and Spanish.
