Qualcomm, the San Diego-based mobile communications company with the lion’s share of the truckload market, announced it has established a group based in Bethesda, Md., specifically for the heavy equipment and construction market.

According to Qualcomm, the new team will provide comprehensive construction fleet management combining web-based software and mobile hardware.
The new group will offer wireless tracking and equipment monitoring plus integrated fleet management providing inventory management, enhanced security, improved billing and preventive maintenance scheduling.
In its announcement, Qualcomm said it would leverage existing products and capabilities that include global distribution channels, data network operations and web-based applications.
