World Wide Solutions, a Puerto Rican-based consulting company, opened the doors of The Trucking Institute in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and welcomed its inaugural class of 16 students who will be trained to drive in the mainland United States.

The Trucking Institute is a 13,000-square-foot facility, which has a 4-1/2 acre paved lot for students to practice their driving skills. The school now has five tractors and six trailers to work with and can accommodate up to 300 students at a time.
The students will undergo English classes, as well as an intensive CDL instruction session, taking them out on U.S. highways. The trainees, along with truck driving instructors, will spend 231 hours behind the wheel of a big rig. Once they graduate, the students will be leased to work for M.S. Carriers, and will drive in the U.S. for three-week shifts, return home to Puerto Rico for a week, and then repeat the cycle.
