The American Trucking Assns. and Engine Manufacturers Assn. have launched a program designed to remind drivers, mechanics, companies and regulators to further reduce truck emissions.
On The Road To Clean Air features a nationwide education and training program which includes partnerships with state and regional air quality officials, truck dealers, engine repair facilities and truckstops to offer educational materials and practical tips on reducing air pollution. The program also asks the industry to promote environmental awareness as part of the basic curriculum at truck driver and automotive repair schools and to distribute educational materials to experienced professionals across the country.
In addition, the program will broadcast public service announcements on trucker’s radio networks and local stations, distribute clean air awareness videos to drivers, mechanics and personnel, and develop a guidance document for sate air quality regulators for in-use emissions testing for diesel trucks.
