PrePass, a high-tech weigh-in-motion and credential preclearance system, recently announced the addition of more locations.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has chosen a test site for PrePass. Its Williamsville weigh station just north of Springfield on I-55 will be the first facility with the system, and will be operational by the end of the summer.
Arizona has deployed PrePass at its seventh inspection facility, located on I-15 southbound near St. George, UT. The newest site processes more than 350,000 trucks a year. This is the 62nd inspection facility to deploy PrePass nationwide.
PrePass consists of an on-board, battery operated transponder that identifies the truck and immediately verifies compliance with state requirements. The driver knows he can bypass an inspection facility when a green light appears on the transponder. A red light means the truck must pull in for an inspection. Only motor carriers with proven safety records qualify to enroll in PrePass, and participation is voluntary.
Fourteen states have deployed or committed to deploy PrePass: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Montana, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wyoming.
Earlier this year, PrePass passed the milestone of more than 100,000 trucks processed in a week.
