PNV Inc. has launched a new line of full-service Internet kiosks for truckstops. A total of 30 of the PNV Connect!Point kiosks are already deployed in TravelCenters of America and
Pilot facilities, and a further 500 will go in over the next few months.
Drivers and other truckstop visitors will be able to use the kiosks for Internet and e-mail access, trip routing, mileage information, for printing online documents as well as for online chat rooms and leisure/recreational purposes. The kiosk, which resembles an ultra-modern telephone booth, features three enclosed sides, a seat, a viewing screen and a keyboard. There are also Web cameras supplied by ZDTV for additional interactive uses.
The new kiosks accept cash, credit cards and prepaid Park `N View phone cards.
"The Internet is rapidly becoming the platform of choice for commerce, communications, education and training for this industry," said Robert P. May, chief executive officer, PNV. "Providing universal access to the Web for the transportation segment is one of PNV's key
objectives."
