Petro and Generous Drivers Raise Big Bucks for St. Jude
Petro Stopping Centers presented $86,250 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the 13th annual Halloween Promotion held this October

Petro COO, Jim Cardwell and West Memphis, Ark. restaurant manager Rafael Morales present check to young St. Jude patients.
Petro Stopping Centers presented $86,250 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the 13th annual Halloween Promotion held this October.
During the promotion, employees at the participating Petro chains asked patrons to make a $1 donation to St. Jude to support its fight against catastrophic childhood diseases. In return for the contribution, the donors had the opportunity to write their names on pumpkin-themed pinups, which the establishment displays through the month of October.
Since its inception, the program has raised more than $21 million for St. Jude.
The Petro location in Corning, Calif., raised the most money out of more than 60 participating centers with a total of $4,165.
“Our customers -- mainly truck drivers -- are some of the most generous people you'll find anywhere. Even with diesel fuel prices well over $2 per gallon, they demonstrated a willingness to dig into their own pockets to support this worthy cause," said Petro COO Jim Cardwell. "Petro Stopping Centers is proud of our new association with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and looks forward to raising even more money to fight childhood cancer in the coming year.”
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities throughout the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fund-raising organization.
