Peterbilt's new Model 379X -- the polished aluminum and chrome special-edition truck that was introduced at the Mid-America Trucking Show and goes into production in the fall -- is touring North America
for display at industry events, Peterbilt Motors Co. recently announced.
"The debut of the Model 379X at the Mid-America Trucking Show generated a great deal of excitement and enthusiasm," said Nick Panza, Peterbilt general manager and Paccar vice president. "We're taking the Model 379X on tour to help spread that energy at truck shows and other events throughout the United States and Canada."
According to Panza, two Model 379Xs are touring, one pulling a trailer with special Model 379X graphics. While venues will be added throughout the year, the Model 379X is currently scheduled to be on display at the following events:
-- International Trucking Show (Las Vegas), June 26-28
-- Walcott Truckers Jamboree (Walcott, Iowa), July 10-11
-- TruckerFest at Hot August Nights (Reno, Nev.), Aug. 6-9.
Peterbilt will begin producing the Model 379X in September, and Peterbilt dealerships will begin taking orders for the new vehicle in June. The Model 379X features unique styling and exclusive design elements that incorporate the polished aluminum-on-chrome special-edition themes throughout the truck's interior and exterior.
Among the exterior features of the Model 379X are:
-- Polished aluminum fenders
-- Polished aluminum centerline hood trim
-- Coordinating, punched "Peterbilt oval" grille and air cleaner intake screen
-- Polished aluminum grille bars
-- Seven-inch chromed exhaust stacks
-- LED auxiliary lighting for the cab, sleeper, air cleaner and rear light-bar assembly
-- Chromed Texas-style bumper
-- Extended stainless steel sunvisor
-- Model 379X special edition logos on each side of the sleeper
The Model 379X is equipped with a 70-inch Unibilt UltraCab sleeper. The cab and sleeper feature:
-- Brushed aluminum dash panels
-- Coordinating brushed aluminum cab and sleeper trim
-- A stylized, four-spoke, "X-style" steering wheel
-- Custom leather UltraRide seats with embroidered Model 379X logo
-- Chromed shift lever, knob and base plate with the Model 379X logo
-- Charcoal cabinetry, interior trim and dash
