Peterbilt has made parts identification easier and faster for its dealers by enhancing its electronic catalog system.

Called ECAT, the electronic catalog's latest feature is a visual search. It allows dealership parts sales personnel to point and click on virtual component systems to quickly identify any part on a Peterbilt truck and provide prompt assistance to customers.
Visual Search uses "hot spots" on line drawings of a truck to identify the desired parts. Click on the section of the truck to find listings of the parts in that area. The system is designed to work with two or three levels of images and automatically links the user into ECAT to identify parts.
There are two viewing options Peterbilt dealers may use to isolate component systems. The Outside View identifies parts or systems such as the cab and sleeper, air intake, hoods, batteries, exhaust, the fuel system and other external areas. The Frame View isolates parts or systems pertaining to the engine and powertrain, the cooling system, suspensions, pusher and tag axles, and hub and brake assemblies.
