PeopleNet Signs Record Number of New Private Fleets
PeopleNet, which provides mobile communications and onboard computing to the private fleet industry, said it signed 96 new fleets since the beginning of 2006 - a record number for the company.

Ron Konezny, chief operating officer, said PeopleNet is particularly suited for private fleet operations because of its deep onboard computing functionality, world class communications offering, versatility, ease of use and competitive operating cost.
PeopleNet's new private fleet customers include a wide range of businesses and vehicles from nationwide tractor-trailer dry-van fleets like that of laminate maker Wilsonart, to specialized operations like Terra Renewal Services, which provides removal of waste-water and other services subject to EPA and DOT rules.
Other companies that selected PeopleNet since the start of 2006 include JELD WEN Windows and Doors, Smart and Final Stores, Shell Lubricants and Holiday Companies just to name a few. These 96 new fleets operate tankers, flatbeds, reefers, beverage trucks and a host of specialized vehicles.
"Private fleets tend to be more diverse than commercial fleets, and those that adopted PeopleNet last year bear that out," Konezny said.
Some fleets are all heavy trucks while others, like that of Border States Electric, a 20-state distributor of electrical supplies, include everything from big trucks to vans, pick ups and cars.
