Despite the down economy, PeopleNet announced it achieved record revenue and subscriber growth in 2008.
Mike Goergen, PeopleNet CFO explained, "Our results are due to continuing strong demand by all fleet types looking for more advanced tools to help them operate at top efficiency. With 80,000 subscribers, and over 100 new fleets signed in 2008, PeopleNet remains financially strong as we celebrate our 15th anniversary."
The company's biggest 2008 product launch was Blu, a powerful in-cab PC with interactive audio and video capability and an intuitive interface. In addition to giving drivers a fast, easy way to access multimedia information in as much detail as needed, Blu's open software environment supports custom-tailored applications and can be fully integrated into any dispatch, back office or enterprise system.
Goergen also cited the expansion of PeopleNet's Professional Services organization, which made a strong contribution to the company's growth. The group, which has been helping customers generate greater ROI since 2004, tripled its size, with many who hold CTP (Certified Trucking Professionals) certifications from the National Private Truck Council. With over 100 engagements completed, the Professional Services team has identified an average of $1.7 million of savings for each customer.
The Tailored Solutions team complemented the Professional Services team by delivering rapid custom application development, including fuel meter reading, trailer tracking integration, dispatch and routing integration, and custom Blu applications. Goergen added that this area has grown in response to high customer demand.
